PR Profile: Alice Pooley
Reason for joining PR?
A friend joined the group a while ago, she’d spoken a few times about how good it was and one evening, when I was feeling low and bad about my fitness I thought “why not. I’ve never been a runner but lets try it for one week” and that one week turned into week after week and I even started looking forward to going and missing it when I couldn’t attend.
How long have you been at PR?A year on 17th July!
What do you enjoy most about PR?
Everyone is so supportive; they might be lapping you but they’re still cheering you on. It really does make such a huge difference when you’re struggling, and someone drops in beside you and runs with you for a bit.
What is your best achievement since joining PR?
Running the whole of the couch to 5k. I went in aiming for anything under an hour and wanting to run a mile without walking and instead managed to do the whole thing in well under an hour, running the whole thing, and with a sprint finish up the drive! Again, this was only because of people running with me and keeping me moving. As easy as it would have been to quit it was so rewarding to be able to do it.
What is your Favourite session?
Ones that involve sprinting! Indian Files is good but lately I really enjoyed the Run the Rainbow session.
If you could only eat one meal what would it be?
Mum’s lasagna – it’s my go to meal when I’ve been working away!
What is your Favourite drink?
A nice, cool, fresh squeezed orange juice
What is your Favourite holiday destination?
North Lake District or Austin, Texas to see my friend
What is your Favourite song or artist?
I have a wide taste in music but lately I’d have to say Night Witches by Sabaton just because it’s such a cool story, Survival by Muse as it reminds me of the Olympics or anything by Andrea Bocelli when I’m trying to relax
What famous person past or present would you like to meet and why?
The Queen. Simple. I got a chance to see her on the balcony at the Jubilee and even though it was just a green dot in the distance it still beat, hands down, all the other celebrities I met that weekend.
