A DAY TO REMEMBER

The PENKRIDGE 10K 2026, held on Sunday 28th June, delivered everything a community race should be: scale, spirit, spectacle and standout performances.

With over 1,100 runners taking on the 10K and more than 250 fun runners, Penkridge once again proved why it’s becoming one of the Midlands’ most loved running events.

Event Atmosphere & Organisation

The event—masterfully delivered by Penkridge Runners in partnership with Penkridge Round Table—was widely praised by participants as “amazing” and “exceptionally well organised.”
The race village buzzed with side stalls, food vendors, live music, entertainment and a fully stocked bar, creating a festival feel that kept spectators and runners smiling long after crossing the finish line.

The course was fully marshalled, thanks to an army of volunteers, Penkridge Round Table and the brilliant support of the Cannock Army Cadets, ensuring safety, encouragement and seamless flow throughout the day.
A well-stocked Water station at mile 3 was well received and managed by a team of PR Volunteers. Lead cyclist Paul Pooley led the runners around the 10k course followed by the Fun Run, with a team of sweepers from Penkridge Runners bringing the final runners back to the finish line.
All runners were rewarded with a well-crafted commemorative medal, goody bag, spot prizes and a refreshing Milk shake supplied by Lower Drayton Farm all delivered by a large team of volunteers at the finish line.

Weather & Conditions

A dramatic prerace downpour gave way to hot, challenging conditions, but runners embraced the heat and powered onto the fast outandback course, known for PB potential and crowd support.

Elite Performances

  • 1st Male
Lee Gratton Gratton delivered a sensational performance, smashing the course record with a blistering 30:29, earning himself £100 prize money and huge applause from the crowd. His run was described by many as “electric” and “inspiring.”
  • 1st Female
Megan Tibbetts Tibbetts stormed home in 39:33, securing a commanding win.

Inclusivity & Community Spirit

This year’s race embodied inclusivity at every turn:

  • Blind competitors Jessica Luke & Martin Brampton completed the course with their guide runners—an inspiring reminder of the event’s commitment to accessibility.
  • Lee Firmstone took on the 10K carrying a bale of hay for charity, drawing cheers all along the route.
  • Pushchair runners added to the family-friendly feel, proving the event truly caters for all abilities.
  • PB Pacers helped runners hit their target times, adding structure and motivation for those chasing personal milestones.

Timing & Results

JC Timings delivered flawless chip timing, ensuring accurate results and smooth processing for all participants.
