Penkridge Runners Win England Athletics Community Project of the Year 2024
We are beyond thrilled to announce that Penkridge Runners has been awarded the prestigious England Athletics Community Project of the Year 2024 for the West Midlands! This recognition is a testament to the incredible spirit, dedication and community we have built together.
At the heart of this achievement is Martin Leek, the founder and driving force behind Penkridge Runners. His unwavering passion, leadership and vision have transformed what started as a local running club into a vibrant and inclusive community that brings together runners of all abilities. Through his coaching, guidance and constant encouragement, Martin has not only helped us achieve personal goals but has fostered a supportive environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. This award is as much a recognition of Martin’s hard work as it is of our collective success as a club.
A special thank you must also go to Jessica Curtiss, who took on the time-consuming and often challenging task of nominating our club for this award. We know that the nomination process is no easy feat, and her dedication to ensuring that Penkridge Runners was given the spotlight it deserves is deeply appreciated. It’s through Jessica’s commitment and belief in the club that we were even considered for this honour, and we are incredibly grateful for her efforts.
Winning this award means so much to us as a club. It’s a recognition of the community spirit that we have cultivated, the friendships that have been formed and the achievements we’ve celebrated together. From beginners taking their first steps in running to seasoned athletes smashing personal bests, Penkridge Runners is a place where everyone’s journey is supported and celebrated.
We are proud of this achievement, but more than that, we are proud of the family we’ve built. Thank you to every single member who has contributed to the heart and soul of Penkridge Runners. Here’s to many more miles, PBs and shared successes in the future!
Let’s continue to make Penkridge Runners a club we can all be proud of. Thank you, Martin, Jessica, and all the members – this award is for all of us!
