Soul-Searching to Marathon Triumph

In life, there often comes a moment when we feel the need to reassess our paths, to embark on a journey of self-improvement and discovery...

For Janice, that moment arrived at the age of 40. It was a pivotal point in her life, where she decided to re-evaluate her priorities, focusing on her health and well-being. Little did she know that this decision would lead her on an incredible journey of transformation and achievement.

In 2013, Janice took the first steps on her journey to a healthier lifestyle. With determination and perseverance, she committed herself to losing weight and improving her fitness. Walking every day, with occasional bursts of running, she began to see remarkable progress. Soon enough, she found herself running non-stop on a 3-mile loop around her local village.

But Janice knew that she needed more than just solitary runs to continue her progress. She craved the camaraderie and support of a running club, a community where she could grow both as a runner and as a person. However, finding the right club proved to be a challenge until fate intervened in the form of a social media ad posted by Martin Leek, the Head Coach at PR Running Club.

In 2014, when Janice attended her first session at PR it was a game-changer. From the structured training sessions to the welcoming atmosphere, Janice found everything she was looking for and more. She quickly immersed herself in the club, relishing the opportunity to push herself further with each session.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Janice’s journey with PR has been the friendships she has formed along the way. She shares a special bond with her running partner, Paula, and together they tackle miles with laughter and encouragement. The social aspect of the club has become an integral part of Janice’s life, providing her with a sense of belonging and support.

In 2022, Janice achieved a milestone that once seemed unimaginable: she completed the renowned London Marathon.

It was a testament to her dedication and the unwavering support she received from her PR family. Under the guidance of Martin, she followed a customised training plan that prepared her both physically and mentally for the challenge ahead.

The accolades continued to pour in for Janice in 2022 when she was awarded ‘Most Improved Female’ and the ‘Coaches Award’ by PR. Despite her remarkable achievements, Janice remains humble, describing herself as ‘a plodder’ who runs to clear her head and enjoy the company of friends.

As Janice reflects on the past decade, she does so with a sense of pride and gratitude. Her journey with PR Running Club has not only transformed her physically but has also enriched her life in ways she never thought possible. And while she celebrates her accomplishments, Janice remains focused on the future with an eagerness to continue her journey.
